Canada’s natural wonder: Niagara Falls
The world-famous Niagara Falls are a highlight destination on the bucket list of many travellers, especially during a holiday to Eastern Canada.
The spectacular natural gem is one of the world’s largest waterfalls and the most popular tourist attraction in Canada.
Niagara Falls actually comprises three waterfalls, from the largest called Horseshoe Falls, through the American Falls to the smallest, Bridal Veil Falls. The crest of Horseshoe Falls extends to a massive 2,200ft width and falls from a highest point of almost 190ft.

Niagara Falls: A spectacular natural wonder
While Canada’s Niagara Falls are not the tallest in the world, it’s the spectacle of the incredible volume of water running over the brink at any given time that draws the crowds.
During the high season, some 2,832 tonnes of water per second flow over the falls. The rapids above the falls reach a maximum speed of 25mph, with the fastest speeds recorded at the falls themselves of 68mph. The water through the Whirlpool Rapids below the falls reaches 30mph.
Seeing truly is believing and at Signature Travels we often recommend the Eastern Canadian attraction of Niagara Falls as a must-see.
